Blockchain.com expands operations alongside TechCayman, doubling down on the Cayman Islands

Blockchain.com and TechCayman announced plans to expand the cryptocurrency company’s presence in the Cayman Islands, including hiring its first employee based on the islands this summer and establishing an office in Camana Bay.

The expansion follows Blockchain.com receiving a conditional Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, allowing the company to operate under the jurisdiction’s regulatory framework. The company said the move reflects its long-term commitment to growing its operations in the region.

Blockchain.com said it will join the business community in Camana Bay while working with TechCayman, which assists technology companies establishing a physical presence in the Cayman Islands. TechCayman will provide the sponsorship framework, operational support, and strategic network necessary to facilitate Blockchain.com’s integration into the island’s tech ecosystem.

“The Cayman Islands has established itself as a forward-thinking jurisdiction for digital asset innovation,” said Lane Kasselman, co-chief executive officer of Blockchain.com. “Alongside TechCayman, we are proud to establish a physical presence and begin building a team to help shape a sustainable, regulated, and long-term future for crypto. The opportunity to contribute to the Cayman Islands’ vibrant business community is incredibly exciting and we are eager to integrate.”

Jennifer McCarthy, TechCayman’s head of operations, said attracting companies such as Blockchain.com reflects the Cayman Islands’ legislative framework for technology businesses and the organisation’s efforts to support firms expanding into the jurisdiction.

Founded in 2011, Blockchain.com has supported more than 95 million wallets and has more than 43 million verified users. The company said its Cayman expansion is intended to strengthen its presence in the Caribbean while continuing to provide regulated cryptocurrency services.
