Thirty-five interns and 22 scholarship recipients took part in the Maples Group’s annual Internship Luncheon as part of the company’s 2026 Summer Internship Programme, which provides young Caymanians with professional experience across legal and business fields.
The July 30 luncheon brought students together with supervisors, mentors, Maples Group employees and government representatives. Interns are placed in departments including legal services, information technology, anti-money laundering, funds fiduciary, human resources, marketing and accounting.
Michael Richardson, managing partner of the group’s Cayman Islands law firm, said the programme is intended to expose students to different career paths while providing work experience and mentorship.
“By giving students access to meaningful experience, mentorship and exposure to a wide range of career pathways, we help them build confidence, understand where their strengths may lead and see how they can contribute to the wider success of the profession and community,” Richardson said.
Education and Training Minister Rolston Anglin also addressed the luncheon, speaking about corporate social responsibility and work-life balance. The programme includes professional workshops, networking events, group projects and a Community Service Day. Participants also attend events including the CareerMasters FutureFlex Conference and CIMA Student Mixer, according to the company.
Maples Group said it also works with the Portfolio of the Civil Service to provide internship opportunities to Cayman Islands Government scholarship recipients. The partnership allows government scholars to participate alongside the company’s other interns.
Legal services internships are offered during the summer, while financial services placements are available throughout the year, the company said.
