Mourant Welcomes Two More Articled Clerks

Leading offshore law and governance services firm, Mourant, has welcomed two more Articled Clerks, Chelsea Ayala and Gabrielle Myers to its Corporate practice, bringing the total number of Articled Clerks to four in its Cayman Islands office.

Chelsea Ayala joined the firm in July 2015 as a Corporate Assistant in Mourant Governance Services. She progressed to Corporate Administrator and then to Senior Corporate Administrator, while also studying online. She then went on to complete the Professional Practice Course at the Cayman Islands Law School, completing this in June 2019. Chelsea moved over to the law firm in February 2020 as a Paralegal in the Corporate team and has recently accepted the position of Article Clerk.

Chelsea said “It’s been a challenging but exciting few years, working and attending school full time in order to pursue my legal career. I’ve gained an abundance of knowledge and skills throughout my years with Mourant, which I will be able to apply throughout my career.  I’m grateful for the opportunities and support received from the entire Mourant team during the last five years. I am enthusiastic for this new chapter as Article Clerk, and I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible team here at Mourant.”

Gabrielle, who was the firm’s 2019 scholarship recipient, recently completed her LPC, graduating from the University of Law with Commendation. Prior to that, Gabrielle graduated from the University of Bedforshire, obtaining her LLB with First Class Honours. Gabrielle is a familiar face to the firm, having been a summer student intern each year since 2016.

Gabrielle commented: “I’m thrilled to be joining Mourant as an Articled Clerk. I’ve truly enjoyed and learnt a great deal from my previous summer internships with the firm and am incredibly grateful for all of their support during my studies. I’m excited and look forward to continuing to learn and grow as a lawyer with the amazing Mourant team.”

Mourant Cayman Islands Managing Partner, Hayden Isbister, said: “We’re really excited to welcome Chelsea and Gabrielle to the team. This is the first time that we’ve had four Articled Clerks at the same time and the increase in the number of trainees is an indicator of our commitment to supporting and developing Caymanian talent. I look forward to working with, and encouraging all of our Articled Clerks as they develop a rewarding career in law, and I wish Chelsea and Gabrielle every success in their new roles.”
