Virtual Asset Crime in Practice: Typologies, tracing and investigative techniques from the field
11 June @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am EST
First in series of events in association with RCIPS, supported by KPMG in the Cayman Islands.
The ACAMS Cayman Chapter invites you to our first in a series of events with the Royal Cayman Island Police Service, supported by KPMG in the Cayman Islands, the morning of June 11. Join David Templeman, Special Investigator at the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, for a practical, experience-led session exploring how virtual asset crime is unfolding in real cases.
Drawing on frontline investigative work, this session will unpack key typologies seen in the misuse of cryptocurrencies and digital assets. David will walk through how these activities are identified, traced, and investigated in practice, offering insight into the tools, techniques, and challenges faced by law enforcement.
Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how illicit funds move through virtual asset ecosystems, how investigators follow the trail, and what this means for compliance professionals tasked with detecting and preventing financial crime. The session will also highlight emerging risks and the evolving intersection between technology and criminal behaviour.
