David Holloway with Chief Justice Margaret Ramsay-Hale and Litigation & Restructuring Partner Spencer Vickers.
International disputes lawyer David Holloway has joined the offshore law firm Conyers as a partner focused on Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law, with an emphasis on clients connected to the Middle East and North Africa region.
The firm said Holloway will advise clients and intermediaries with operations or interests in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA market. His appointment comes as offshore firms continue to expand cross-border litigation and restructuring work tied to Middle Eastern investors and businesses.
Holloway previously practised at the English bar and most recently served as partner and head of advocacy in the international disputes practice at Al Tamimi & Company.
Conyers said Holloway has handled commercial disputes involving banking, finance, energy, insurance and international trade, including cases before courts in the Dubai International Financial Centre, Abu Dhabi Global Market and Qatar Financial Centre.
He also has experience in international arbitration matters involving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, state entities and multinational companies.
Matthew Stocker, head of Conyers’ Cayman office and corporate practice, said Holloway’s regional experience would strengthen the firm’s disputes practice and create opportunities across other areas of the business.
Mark Forte, head of BVI litigation and restructuring, said the firm is seeing increased demand for offshore litigation and restructuring advice linked to the MENA region.
