Matthew Goucke
Walkers has appointed Matthew Goucke as managing partner of its Cayman Islands office, effective 1 July 2026, the firm announced.
Goucke will succeed Rob Jackson, who is stepping down from the role on 30 June after a three-year term but will remain with the firm as a finance partner.
The leadership change comes as the Cayman office continues to grow, with the firm crediting Jackson for overseeing sustained expansion and supporting community initiatives during his tenure, including charitable and environmental programmes in the Cayman Islands.
Goucke, a partner in Walkers’ insolvency and dispute resolution group, specialises in corporate recovery and contentious insolvency. He has been with the firm since 2007 and previously worked in commercial litigation in Australia, advising banks, listed companies and insolvency practitioners.
In a statement, global managing partner Ingrid Pierce said Jackson’s leadership had a lasting impact on the firm’s Cayman operations.
“Rob has been instrumental in the continued growth and development of our Cayman office over the past three years. His leadership has been defined by a collaborative, people-first approach that has left a lasting positive impact on the team and the business. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Rob for his many contributions and the example he has set while leading in Cayman,” she said. “Matthew is an exceptionally talented lawyer who is highly regarded across the market, and I look forward to working closely with him as we build on this strong foundation and enter an exciting next chapter.”
Jackson said: “Three years as OMP has given me an even deeper appreciation of what makes the Cayman Islands office exceptional – the quality of the people and the work. I leave the role knowing it is in very good hands with Matthew.”
Goucke said, “Our Cayman office is a remarkable outfit with a talented team. I’m looking forward to the role and to continuing the momentum we have built.”
