Premier to meet financial services leaders in New York and Toronto

Premier and Minister for Financial Services André Ebanks

Premier and Minister for Financial Services and Commerce André Ebanks will travel to New York and Toronto from Oct. 13-16 for meetings with international financial services executives and industry representatives.

The four-day visit is intended to strengthen relationships with the reinsurance, investment and banking sectors while outlining the Cayman Islands government’s priorities for maintaining the jurisdiction’s competitiveness as an international financial center.

In New York, Ebanks will attend the annual Cayman Islands Reinsurance Roundtable Breakfast, where industry leaders, regulators and government representatives will discuss developments affecting the reinsurance market. He will also participate in a reinsurance briefing and meet with senior executives from reinsurance and investment companies.

The discussions will include updates on Cayman’s insurance regulatory framework following the jurisdiction’s August 2026 application to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners for recognition as a Qualified Jurisdiction.

In Toronto, Ebanks is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Global Investor Forum and participate in a roundtable with investment management and financial services professionals. He will also meet with banking executives to discuss Cayman’s economic outlook, government priorities and opportunities for the banking sector.

Accompanying the premier will be Parliamentary Secretary Julie Hunter, Cayman Islands Government Representative Gene DaCosta and the premier’s private secretary, Sean Whewell. Representatives from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority will also attend the reinsurance events in New York.
