Calderwood appoints veteran funds attorney Richard Goldman as independent director

Richard Goldman

Calderwood, a Cayman Islands-based fund governance firm, has appointed Richard Goldman as an independent director, expanding its senior leadership as the company continues to grow in its 10th year of business.

Goldman, who is based in Boston, brings four decades of experience as an investment funds attorney. He spent 22 years as a partner at Morgan Lewis, including time with Bingham McCutchen before its 2014 combination with Morgan Lewis, where he served as co-head of the firm’s Global Hedge Funds Group. He currently serves as a senior consultant to Morgan Lewis.

In his new role, Goldman will serve as an independent member of boards of directors and governance boards for investment funds and related entities. Calderwood said he will advise clients on legal, regulatory and governance matters, drawing on experience in private fund formation, product structuring, seed capital arrangements and management company agreements. The company also noted that Goldman has been recognised by Chambers USA as a leading hedge fund attorney.

Calderwood co-founder Ronan Guilfoyle said Goldman’s experience in the U.S. investment funds market would strengthen the firm’s ability to support clients operating in an evolving regulatory and business environment.

The appointment brings Calderwood’s senior team to 14 independent directors following the additions of Todd Hazelwood and Joe Gaastra in recent months, the company said.
