Maples and Calder, the law firm of the Maples Group, has promoted Piers Reynolds and James Turner to partner in its Cayman Islands office.

The admissions to partnership follow the Group’s recent leadership announcements in Cayman and reflect the continued growth of its legal services platform in the jurisdiction. Both Reynolds and Turner are highly regarded practitioners with experience advising clients on complex, high‑value matters across Cayman’s international financial services market.

“These promotions recognise Piers’ and James’ sustained contribution to the firm, their technical excellence and the trusted relationships they have built with clients,” said Managing Partner Michael Richardson. “Strengthening our partnership is vital to ensuring we continue to deliver the depth and quality of advice our clients expect.”

Reynolds, who joined the Maples Group in 2019 after practicing with Slaughter & May and Freshfields in London, advises clients on the establishment and operation of private equity and alternative investment funds, as well as financing and corporate transactions. The firm said his promotion will strengthen senior leadership within its funds practice as demand grows for fund launches, restructurings and capital-raising work.

Turner has worked in the Cayman office since 2015 after serving as in-house counsel for a London-based investment manager and holding positions at international law firms. His practice focuses on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, joint ventures, special purpose acquisition companies and investment fund structures. According to the company, his appointment reinforces the firm’s capacity to advise on complex cross-border corporate and fund transactions.

The latest promotions follow the firm’s earlier advancement of Joe Jackson and Katrina Watson to partner and Kimberly Robinson, Sasha Hunte and Tracy Hylton to of counsel. The company said the appointments enhance its Regulatory and Financial Services Advisory, Corporate, and Funds and Investment Management practice groups in the Cayman Islands.
