Cayman’s position as a trusted global financial hub was reinforced recently as a delegation of 15 Brazilian private client lawyers travelled to the Cayman Islands for Mission Cayman Islands, a three-day professional development visit designed to deepen international engagement and provide first-hand experience of the jurisdiction. The educational mission was led by Alexandre Arregui, Founder of Arregui Educacional, together with Cristine Yamada and the institution’s team, a Brazil-based professional education platform serving more than 500 legal and financial practitioners.
The visit was organised in collaboration with Cayman Finance member firms and highlighted the strength, sophistication and accessibility of Cayman’s professional services industry. Delegates experienced immersive sessions with leading financial institutions, trust companies, and legal professionals, many of whom they had only known by reputation prior to their arrival.
During the programme, participants engaged with Cayman National Bank, the event’s Official Sponsor. The group attended a presentation on “Cayman National and Premier Banking Overview,” where they learned more about the bank’s Premier Banking services and Cayman National Securities, key pillars of an institution that has been serving clients locally and internationally with excellence and trust.
“Cayman National has a unique proposition as a one-stop shop for international clients, whether high net worth individuals or institutions. Our Premier Banking team provides highly personalised services and preferential rates, while our colleagues at Cayman National Securities are a full-service investment brokerage firm trading on the world’s major markets,” said Premier Banking Senior Vice President Trevor Spinney.
Delegates also met with Travers Thorp Alberga, Zedra Trust, and JTC Group, who shared insights into international trust structures, fund administration and private wealth planning. The organisers expressed their appreciation to all participating institutions for their time, expertise and commitment in supporting the mission’s goal of fostering stronger professional connections between Brazil and the Cayman Islands.
A highlight included a guided visit to the Grand Court, where delegates observed a live court proceeding, an experience that brought Cayman’s legal integrity and English common law foundation to life. The delegation also toured the Cayman International Mediation and Arbitration Centre Ltd (CIMAC), underscoring the Islands’ growing role in commercial dispute resolution.
“Cayman exceeded every expectation,” said Alexandre Arregui. “Many of the professionals we brought to the Island were visiting for the first time, and they have left not only with admiration for the jurisdiction, but with a clear intention to build long-term relationships here. The quality of services, professionalism, and legal infrastructure makes Cayman Islands the natural destination for private client structures.”
Mission Cayman Islands is part of a four-year strategic initiative led by Arregui Educacional to introduce Brazilian legal and financial professionals to trusted cross-border planning hubs. Following the success of this visit, the organisers plan to return annually, and expand future missions to include a client delegation programme, enabling Brazilian high-net-worth families to meet Cayman service providers face-to-face.
Brittany MacVicar, Associate Director at Cayman Finance, responsible for Banking and Trusts, welcomed the initiative, noting: “Relationship-building and professional education are vital to strengthening Cayman’s global partnerships. Mission Cayman Islands demonstrates the power of on-island engagement and the value of our world-class financial services community.”
Mission Cayman Islands reflects growing interest from Latin America in Cayman as a transparent, well-regulated international financial centre that prioritises tax neutrality, legal certainty, and client security. Cayman Finance looks forward to supporting the continued development of this important relationship.
