Cricket Square unveils Pavilion East: A landmark in sustainable commercial development

Orchid Development has announced the official opening of Pavilion East, the latest addition to George Town’s Cricket Square campus and a new benchmark for premium, sustainable office development in the Cayman Islands.

Set across seven expansive floors and offering over 140,000 square feet of Class A office space, Pavilion East has already made a mark on the region’s commercial landscape. Crowned Best Office Development at the 2024 International Property Awards, the building was recognised for its outstanding design, construction quality and environmental responsibility.

Pavilion East is set to achieve LEED Gold certification, a globally recognised symbol of sustainability achievement. From its energy-efficient Low-E glass façade and rooftop solar panels to its smart climate control systems and sustainable materials, every detail of Pavilion East represents a commitment to sustainability, the environment and the wellbeing of occupants, the company said in a press release.

“As the seventh phase of Cricket Square’s evolution, Pavilion East reinforces our long-standing commitment to design excellence, environmental leadership, and the continued revitalisation of George Town,” said King Flowers, CEO of Orchid Development. “This is more than just a building. It’s a community hub where some of Cayman’s most prestigious businesses come together in a space designed to support collaboration, productivity and well-being.”

Designed with flexibility and growth in mind, each floor offers 20,000 square foot floor plates with provision for tenant growth and expansion to 40,000 square foot floor plates through the planned adjacent building, Pavilion West, Orchid Development said. Pavilion East also features custom balconies, landscaped terraces and a striking lobby that showcases local art and premium finishes.

Pavilion East’s inaugural tenants include the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), Carey Olsen, the Public Service Pensions Board (PSPB), the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange (CSX) and MUFG.

“CIMA’s relocation to Pavilion East at Cricket Square marks a significant milestone in our journey of growth, innovation, and transformation,” said Cindy Scotland, CIMA’s chief executive officer. “As our team continues to expand, this purpose-built, modern space enhances our ability to serve the financial services industry with greater efficiency, agility, and vision.”

The project was brought to life through a close collaboration between local and international partners, including architects Chalmers Gibbs Architects, DB Architects and Garrett Singer Architecture & Design. Construction and engineering were led by McAlpine, APEC, and MCW Consultants, with financing provided by a consortium of trusted institutions: Butterfield, Cayman National Bank, CIBC, Royal Bank of Canada and Scotiabank.

Located in the heart of Cricket Square, Pavilion East offers seamless access to the campus’ extensive amenities, including The Brasserie farm-to-table restaurant, on-site cafés and bars, meeting and event spaces, a complimentary shuttle service, and a fitness centre. Tenants are also supported by 24/7 security, modern parking solutions and a growing network of corporate neighbours, Orchid Development said.
