Qualification and professional recognition

Membership of the Institute puts you among our international community of governance professionals. As a member you enhance your professional standing with the right to use post-nominals and chartered designations as applicable plus the opportunity to participate in local, national and global networks. As a member you are making a commitment to continuing professional development and to upholding our code of professional ethics and conduct. Membership also provides preferential access to our knowledge, services, plus technical support and guidance.

Become a Chartered member

Chartered status is the gold standard for company secretaries and governance professionals, and it is highly valued and globally recognised. It shows you have the knowledge, skills and experience for a role with significant and wide-ranging governance responsibilities. Become a Graduate member

Graduate membership recognises the achievement of students who successfully complete The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme or an accredited Masters degree in corporate governance from one of our partner universities. As soon as graduates can demonstrate the relevant work experience to achieve chartered status, they can progress to Associate membership.

Become an Affiliated member

Affiliated membership recognises the achievement, value and capability of those who have successfully completed one of our short course qualifications, or achieved part qualified status on The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme that leads to chartered membership.
